How to remove Battery
Before disassembling the computer, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
Remove the battery:
1. Position the computer upside-down on a flat surface, with the battery bay toward you.
2. Slide the battery release latch to release the battery.
3. Pivot the battery upward to remove it from the computer.
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.

How to remove Bottom door

2. Remove the locking screw (if installed) and slide the release latch .
3. Slide the door toward the front of the computer (3), and then lift the door off the computer.

3. Slide the door toward the front of the computer (3), and then lift the door off the computer.
How to remove Optical drive
Before removing the optical drive, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.

Remove the optical drive:
1. Position the computer upside-down with the right side toward you.
2. Remove the Phillips PM2.5×4.0 screw that secures the optical drive to the computer.
3. Push the optical drive tab to release the optical drive from the computer.

1. Position the computer upside-down with the right side toward you.
2. Remove the Phillips PM2.5×4.0 screw that secures the optical drive to the computer.
3. Push the optical drive tab to release the optical drive from the computer.
4. Remove the optical drive from the computer.
How to remove Hard drive
Before disassembling the computer, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4. Remove the battery
5. Remove the bottom door
Remove the hard drive:
1. Position the computer upside-down, with the battery bay toward you.
2. Remove the four Phillips PM2.0×3.0 screws that secure the hard drive to the computer.
3. Grasp the Mylar tab on the hard drive and slide the hard drive to the right to disconnect it from the system board connector.
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.

Remove the hard drive:
1. Position the computer upside-down, with the battery bay toward you.
2. Remove the four Phillips PM2.0×3.0 screws that secure the hard drive to the computer.
3. Grasp the Mylar tab on the hard drive and slide the hard drive to the right to disconnect it from the system board connector.
4. Remove the hard drive from the hard drive
bay.
How to remove Keyboard
Before removing the keyboard, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.

Remove the keyboard:
1. Position the computer upside-down with the front toward you.
2. Remove the Phillips PM2.5×6.0 screw that secures the keyboard to the computer.
3. Remove the Phillips PM2.5×4.0 screw that secures the keyboard to the computer.
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4. Remove the battery
5. Remove the bottom door
Remove the keyboard:
1. Position the computer upside-down with the front toward you.
2. Remove the Phillips PM2.5×6.0 screw that secures the keyboard to the computer.
3. Remove the Phillips PM2.5×4.0 screw that secures the keyboard to the computer.
4. Insert a screwdriver or similar tool into the gap near the fan and
push to disengage the keyboard.
5. Position the computer right-side up with the front toward you.
6. Open the computer as far as possible.
7. When lifting the keyboard, note that some models have tape that secures the keyboard to the top cover.

8. Lift and rotate the keyboard until it rests on the palm rest .
9. Lift the keyboard connector latch , and then
disconnect the keyboard cable from the system board .
10. Remove the keyboard.
